The fall 2016 semester began with new digital classrooms at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus. Nine classrooms were upgraded with digital instructional technologies:

  • Duques Hall 151, 152
  • Funger Hall 103
  • Rome Hall 204, 206, 350, 351, 352, 459

Thirty-nine classrooms have now been upgraded through Academic Technologies’ Digital Transition Initiative. The initiative is an on-going project to install and implement new digital technologies in existing classrooms, advancing education at GW.

New pedagogical technologies available to instructors and students in the digital classroom include web conferencing, video conferencing, and wireless presentation. Transitioning to digital technologies also allows AV and IT elements to be managed remotely, efficiently streamlining classroom support and reducing the time to resolve issues. Additionally, these systems preemptively alert support staff to take preventative maintenance measures, which reduces classroom downtime and allows AT to more efficiently anticipate and address faculty needs.
